Brookfield Rover Lodge Working Bees

Present: Sheryl, Katy, Toni, Baz, Tony, Lisa, Dave, Dan, Jo, Amanda, Cathy

Over two Sundays we worked on the 'new' Rover Lodge at our area campsite - Brookfield. The aim of the work was to put a path from the lodge to the nearby toilets and to clean up the grounds.

The first Sunday started with a petrol cloud as the weed eater and chainsaws got going, attacking the long grass and a huge tree stump in the back yard respectively. The whirring of the chainsaws was halted not long into the morning when the bar of Baz's saw got rather lodged in the stump, 'snap', and it was no more.

Ever so slowly the boxing for the path got full with Sarah and her teams expert hand at laying the concrete while others took turns mixing it. Meanwhile others got busy with the shovels and moved a large pile of dirt from out front to level out the back yard.

The second weekend consisted of finishing up the rest of the unfinished work from the weekend before, as well as cutting up a truckload of wood from the Hataitai hall project. The pile of cut wood went up slowly until Dan go second wind and went nuts running it all inside and stacking it, definitely enough to last the winter.

Thanks to everyone who put in the hard yards to make our lodge even better, especially Roger - Plumbing, and Anges Dad - Electricity.
