Our first catering event of the year was for the Hutt-Somes district cub camp. There were about a hundred cubs, leaders, and parent helpers to be fed as well as making the food good enough for us to eat as well.

As usual there we cub trying to outdo people at least twice their size so whenever there was a game of rugby or hacky to be played you could be sure that the cubs would rope us in.

As well as the cub camp, there were Area Venturer Workshop and Leadership courses on the same weekend, encompassing the Hernia (an Area Venturer Event). We were volunteered to assist with the running of this and were forced to drop our dishes and go help. It wasn’t too bad watching the Venturers making fools of themselves as they tried to complete various team challenges but it did restrict our already short drinking time…oh it’s a hard life being in a service movement!!

The menu was a bit of a shitter to cook (300 odd rissoles) but we all had a good time. The fact we have been invited back shows that the cubs and their leaders enjoyed the weekend as much as we did.
